Don't you love it when the underdog wins? When the Ugly Duckling turns into a swan? Or when the fighter everyone figures is down for the count rises again? Those kinds of stories are my favorites, so it's no surprise that my first romance novel, Just an Affair, was about a woman, who, after breaking up with her married lover, created a new life for herself in a foreign country and learned to love again.

Just an Affair

In Just an Affair, Caryl Walker, flees to the Caribbean after her relationship with the much older Alexander Thorne, a law partner at her firm, falls apart. She finds new friends and a new purpose living and working in the beautiful British Virgin Islands but the handsome and captivating Joshua Tain poses a challenge to her vow of celibacy. Caryl wants to believe in Joshua. She thinks he's the right man to restore her faith in the possibility of love but when her old flame, newly divorced, shows up begging for a second chance she's torn between her memories of the past and her hopes for the future.

Rave Reviews

Just an Affair"I thoroughly enjoyed Just an Affair. The story line had excitement around each corner and the description of the islands made me want to catch the next flight out. This is Ms. O'Neal's debut novel and, if this is any indication of what's to come, I will be anxiously awaiting her next novel."

"Not your run-of-the-mill romance, this contemporary high-seas story involves a shark attack and a lost memory. Fortunately, all is sorted out in time for us to witness the full development of Joshua and Caryl's relationship."
Debbie R. Sims for Romantic Times.

"Eugenia O'Neal has constructed an interesting tale of love about a protagonist in a non-traditional role and she's managed to lace the novel with some of the environmental and social concerns of the Virgin Islands. I enjoyed this well-rounded novel for its tender view of love conquering all and making me aware of the societal issues prevalent in many countries and not just my own neighborhood."
